RESOLUTION ON COMPUTERISATION
Computers are universal means of control which permits workers, no one but the workers, to transform all forms of machinery into slaves at the service of humanity. In other words, “full automation and continuity” of all productive activities is assured.
1. Workers can build a system of fully integrated, continuous and automatic i.e., computerised production, transportation and distribution, and thus, ensure plenty for all.
This also means that workers can build a fully integrated, continuous and automatic system of computerised communication network.
This network of computers would be connected to all the cultural, sportive and educational facilities; to all the research & development facilities and libraries; to all the hospitals and other medical centres; to all the government institutions, to all the military and public security facilities; to all the community centres, to every house and to every individual. Wherever there is a human activity, this network would be connected to it.
This network of computers shall collect instantaneous and continuous information on all our activities and make it available to all.
2. Using the above mentioned computer network: workers can build a system of government by direct democracy and a system of central planning for the economy. Everyone will know everything and everyone will participate on every decision made.
3. To achieve the above mentioned plan everything is available except this: common ownership of the means of production. Without this form of ownership, it is impossible to realise this plan.
Everything has a limit. Computerised production is the limit for the capitalist form of production. It is utterly and totally incompatible with capitalist forms of ownership. Because of this, and so long as capitalist forms of ownership remain, we are facing an abyss. We are facing unemployment, wars, famine. We are facing long years of misery. We are facing barbarism. No one will be able to escape these, unless the capitalist forms of ownership are destroyed and common ownership is established.
Workers must transform every single bit of capital into the workers’ common property, and thus obtain the means to put into practise the above mentioned plan.
4. No change in the forms of ownership can be achieved in this society except through political struggle and this can only be waged through a political party.
Therefore;
This Conference resolves that:
1. Worker comrades must build DD(C)P as a party which aims to realise the above mentioned plan.
2. DD(C)P must establish its own network of computers and practise direct democracy within the party, while never for a moment forgetting that it must take necessary measures to safeguard itself against the reactionary forces of bourgeoisie and its desperate and varied provocations.
3. Trade Unions and other mass organisations of the people must establish their own network of computers and practise direct democracy within their organisations, while never for a moment forgetting that they must take necessary measures to safeguard themselves against the reactionary forces of bourgeoisie and its desperate and varied provocations.
This party, the trade unions and the mass organisations of the citizens must never forget that direct democracy means the end for the capitalists. Capitalists will do anything and everything to stop the workers applying direct democracy!
WORKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!
